Choose by construction, then check the exact fit
A sleeve, a strap and a support with hinges do different jobs. Start with any support type your clinician has specified. Then compare the construction and size chart for the exact model, rather than assuming that a higher price or a firmer feel makes it the right choice.
GenuTrain or GenuTrain S: knit support or added hinges
GenuTrain combines a knitted knee support with a shaped kneecap pad. GenuTrain S adds lateral hinged splints and adjustable straps. Compare GenuTrain when you are looking for knit-and-pad support; compare the S when a hinged design has been recommended. Neither choice replaces a prescribed post-operative brace.
Check both leg measurements against that model's chart. GenuTrain S also requires a left or right selection in our catalogue. Don't transfer a size from another brace. Bauerfeind's GenuTrain information and GenuTrain S chart explain the respective designs.
EpiTrain or EpiPoint: elbow coverage or a forearm strap
EpiTrain has knitted elbow coverage and shaped pads. EpiPoint is a narrower forearm strap with a pressure pad, leaving the elbow uncovered. Its red warning section indicates excessive strap tension. Choose between the forms with guidance appropriate to your symptoms, not simply by tightening a strap more.
Fit differs too. The EpiTrain chart uses forearm circumference across numbered sizes. EpiPoint's universal size covers a stated forearm circumference of 22.5–33 cm and can be worn on either arm. Universal does not mean every arm size.
LumboTrain or LordoLoc: knitted support or tension straps and stays
LumboTrain combines knitted material with a lumbar pad. LordoLoc uses four aluminium stays and adjustable tension straps. The buying distinction is the support's construction and fit, not a diagnosis based on where your back hurts. Neither should replace a prescribed rigid spinal orthosis.
Use the measuring position and chart for the exact model and version: LumboTrain information or LordoLoc sizing. If measurements cross size bands or the model/version is unclear, ask for fit guidance before ordering.
